| The life, words and deeds of the first Christians, as they were described in the Word of God, have always been to us an example to follow. The historical beginning of the Baptist denomination is assumed to be about the year 1520 AD. From the historical annals such names can be mentioned as those of Thomas Mϋntzer, Menno Simons and Charles Spurgeon. In Bulgaria, the first Baptists appeared in the 1860’s. Nonetheless, we boldly claim that we are following the example and commands of the first church of the Apostles. For us, the deeds of the faith are more important than the name itself. The Evangelical Baptist Church has existed in the area of Varna since 1927. The Church building used to be at 72 Nish Blvd (100 G.Dimitrov Blvd), until in 1985, by the decision of the local authorities, it was demolished and was forced to move to the suburbs of the city. In 1989, a small group of believers started to live with the vision of the church being returned to the centre of the city. For seven years this group of people grew in number, relocating from one place to another, seeking a place for their house of prayer. God provided the solution when in 1999 the Church obtained one part of the property it owns today. This is how our newest history starts. What we long and pray for is: to serve God, bringing peace, blessing and encouragement to the people in our neighbourhood and even the entire city. Our major aim has always been and still remains the same: For people to be able to understand that life without God is doomed to failure and that Christ is the straight and only road to God. |
